What are minds made for?

For watching the ruins ignoring the moon,
For picking up thorns leaving the flowers,
For gluing one’s feet where they are,
For seeing our reflection thinking it’s the World,
A long long chain that never ends.

For going no further than words,
For but clapping if we listened,
For freezing one’s growth in a solid frame,
Not even but keeping others from being,
Will there ever be an end?

For keeping a smile from an innocent face,
For shooting ones’ words like a blind,
For wasting ourselves searching for ourselves,
For seeing others as we’re longing to see,
Got to do something to end this end.

For getting into a race for what we’ve got,
And waiting a life time for what we’ll have not,
For searching worthy stones neglecting own pearls,
For living back there or when is not yet..
What will we do if eyes, ears, hands, mind we have not ??

Shutting off doors, no rivers to flow,
Days pass by as cars pass by,
No more than dream for a dream to be born,
All this and more… still wonder WHY ??!

  1. Hi Ensana..
I do like the gist of your poem…and I do highly recommend that you read more and more of Rumi’s poetry if you are interested in this direction….

I am not sure why no one commented on your poem, but that should not be of concern to you at all. You are the one who said: “For wasting ourselves searching for ourselves…”

    best of luck!

  2. Thank you ….
Yes I am very interested in this direction yet reading finds very narrow area of my life these days away from the net:(

    You’re right, I shouldn’t be concerned:)
